Kate Winslet was traumatised when her pet hamster ate its babies.
The Oscar-winning actress has revealed how she was left suffering from repetitive nightmares as a child after her family refused to listen to veterinary advice and her furry pet killed its offspring. She explained to Empire magazine: "When I was a kid, one of our hamsters suddenly gave birth - we didn't even know she was pregnant. We phoned the pet shop and they said, 'Take the babies away - hamsters get very frightened after they've given birth and you don't want her to eat the babies.' "We didn't listen and that's exactly what happened. This obviously affected me badly as I had a recurring dream about hamsters gobbling up their babies until I was about 15." Kate is not the only Hollywood beauty to suffer from odd premonitions at bedtime. The O.C. actress Rachel Bilson once wet herself after dreaming she was a performing hippopotamus. She said: "When I was nine years old, I dreamt I was a hippo in a ballerina skirt, like the one in 'Fantasia'. It got worse, because I had to pee in my dream and when I woke up I'd wet my bed. That's pretty embarrassing, right?"
Mortified by headlines she received for performances at previous awards-giving ceremonies – "Get a grip, love," "You're embarrassing us" and "It's celebrity big blubber" – Kate Winslet assures me there will be no theatrics from her at the Baftas.
"There will be no tears," she told me at the Lancôme pre-Bafta party in association with Harper's Bazaar at the St Martin's Lane Hotel. "This year I can just relax and enjoy watching everyone else get nervous and appreciate their delight when they collect their awards." After I disclosed in January that her husband Sam Mendes will direct the next James Bond film, I asked her if she would prefer to play the heroine or the villain. "That is a very clever question," she laughed. "But I am not going to answer it." Also at the party was the Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright, 19, who has lately owned up to a relationship with Jamie Campbell Bower, the actor. She said her Potter co-stars like him. "I wouldn't say they have vetted him, but they do approve of him. We keep an eye out for each other."
In an interview with GMTV Kate Winslet revealed that she keeps her award on the back of the toilet.
The actress, who won the Best Actress Oscar for her role as a Nazi war criminal in the film The Reader, revealed to GMTV presenter Kate Garraway that she keeps her award sat on 'the back of the loo'. Giggling, Kate said that she kept it there so that visitors 'can sneakily have a little [hold] and put it back down again.' She explained that she understood that everyone would want to touch it saying, 'everybody wants to hold it and go "Oh, my gosh," and "How heavy is it?" So I figured if I put it in the loo, then people can avoid the whole, "Where's your Oscar?" thing.'
GABBY Logan has revealed she would love Kate Winslet to play her in a film.
The BBC sports presenter, mum of four-year-old twins Lois and Reuben, said if a biopic was ever made of her life, she’d love the Titanic actress to play her role. Gabby, who presents Final Score and a lunchtime show on weekdays on Radio 5 Live, said: “If I was being vain, I’d like Kate Winslet when she was a bit rounder and less well groomed.” She also revealed she’d love to interview disgraced golfer Tiger Woods. << Previous 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Next >> Content Management Powered by CuteNews
